SERVPRO Water Damage Technician in NE Tucson Describes Mitigation Procedure

It appears as if it is a normal, sunny day in NE Tucson when one expert begins to describe the details of the situation. Local SERVPRO professional Craig Nelson begins to speak with confidence as he sports his Arizona-style straw hat. Even though the day may seem perfect on the outside, Nelson tells everyone that he is at the scene of a severe emergency water damage situation that took place the night before. Nelson and his crew responded in the late hours of the night to start the restoration process. Now Nelson and his team are back at the work site the very next morning after the loss to do some more work.

As soon as the inside of the house is shown, it is obvious that this was one of the more severe cases of water damage seen in NE Tucson. Nelson first points to the source of the problem and shows where the pipe broke inside the wall. According to Nelson, when the water pipe blew out a fitting, 95% to 98% of the house got flooded.

The camera then moves to where the scene of the disaster is behind the guest speaker from SERVPRO of NE Tucson. Nelson explains that most of the house contains delaminated carpet that must get removed because reinstalling it is no longer possible.

Nelson then explains that they removed the pad with the carpet because padding can often hold in foul odors. The next thing you can see Nelson's team doing is removing the baseboard, door trim and door casing throughout the home.

Next, Nelson explains that his team is going to make flood cuts by cutting the drywall a foot from the floor all the way around the house so that insulation can be removed and all of the wood inside the wall cavity can get dried. After everything is dry, the reconstruction crew comes in and re-hangs drywall, paints and makes other final repairs. "Once the reconstruction work is done, the homeowner can move back into their house like nothing ever happened," Craig Nelson explained.
