Ravine Fire in Bonita Ridge?
1/5/2022 (Permalink)
My uncle came to help with my move to my new house in Bonita Ridge. There was a metal bin with some old ashes in it that he tossed into the backyard. A few minutes later, I saw smoke out the back window and saw the sagebrush behind my house on fire. The old ashes still had live embers in them and started the backyard on fire!
SERVPRO® of Northeast Tucson and SERVPRO® of Oro Valley/Marana East wants everyone to be safe around fire this winter season. Here are some winter fire safety tips from the United States Fire Marshalls:
If you are using a fireplace:
- Put ashes in a metal container with a lid. Store the container outside at least three feet from your home.
- Keep a glass or metal screen in front of the fireplace to prevent embers or sparks from jumping out and starting a fire
- Do not burn paper in your fireplace
- Before you go to sleep or leave your home, put the fire out completely
