How to Prepare Important Documents for a Water Emergency in Tucson
Even though we are in a digital age these days, some people still keep paper documents filed neatly in their drawer or a file folder (or somewhere else). However, what happens if those important documents are destroyed due to a water emergency or a flood caused by a storm? It can be so hard to track down copies of those documents and this leads to unnecessary stress among other difficulties depending on what the documents are for.
SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson and SERVPRO of Oro Valley /Marana Eastwants to share the following tips with the residents of Devil’s Thumb:
- Scan and back up images to a thumb drive and keep it in a safe, dry space
- Keep paper documents in a water-proof bag or safe
- Laminating documents is also an option but keep in mind that lamination does not last forever
- Some companies do offer waterproof paper that you can use in a printer
It is not too late to start moving important documents over to a digital copy or hard drive, or into a waterproof safe if that is what you prefer. No matter the method you choose, keeping the documents safe from water damage is an important part. If for some reason you do need to replace lost or damaged documents, the link below will prove to be very useful.
