Fire Damage Move Out and Cleanup in Tuscon Home

When SERVPRO helps local homeowners with fire damage in their homes, it goes further than cleaning up the charred sheetrock and smoke damage on the interior. One of the many goals of the techs is always to save homeowners the cost of replacement whenever possible through their cleaning methods.

Working on fire damage in a Tuscon kitchen and dining room, the techs found the kitchen table and chairs, and the dining room set had extensive smoke damage but no charring. Made from solid hardwood rather than composite materials, they had excellent prospects for restoration by cleaning. As the two rooms needed repairs, the techs moved out of the room contents for cleaning at the facility.

In-House Smoke Damage Removal Process

For the furniture, the techs have cleaning agents to release the hold of the smoke residues on surfaces. The techs test items before cleaning to ensure the correct agents get used, and articles do not get harmed from incorrect cleaning methods. Wood soaps work on well on finished wood surfaces as they clean gently without using harsh detergents or strong alkalis. The techs also have equipment such as the Esporta power washing machines for heavy residues. Glass and ceramic keepsakes get restored through the use of ultrasonic baths. Afterward, the items get held in secure storage until the home is ready for the pieces to get brought back into the house and set up.

Organization During Move-Out

When SERVPRO techs move out items during mitigation, they utilize a highly organized system known as the Contents Claim Inventory Service (CCIS) inventory protocol to manage the pathway of actions taken during the fire and smoke damage restoration process. It logs items packed out, including their location in the home and items that required disposal along with detailed descriptions and photos. This report also helps expedite the filing of insurance claims.

For fire damage cleanup call SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson and SERVPRO of Oro Valley / Marana East at (520) 760-9352. The certified techs can use the latest technology and cleaning methods to restore your home to its preloss condition, "Like it never even happened."

Tucson Property Owners Appreciate SERVPRO's Efforts to Minimize Fire Damage Cleanup and Restoration Effects and Disturbances

Reducing Inconveniences After Fire Damage Incidents in Tucson

A fire incident in Tucson can have different outcomes, including forcing occupants to vacate the premises for cleanup, repairs, and other restoration steps. These movements create inconveniences and introduce additional costs to the original loss. A professional fire damage restorer like SERVPRO can help reduce the costs and nuisances.

Boarding up the premises
After the blaze that leads to fire damage loss in Tucson is put out, many homeowners believe the worst is over. However, deterioration is likely to continue and especially when the property is unoccupied. Some actions such as, heat from the flames that shatters windows or holes punched through the walls by firefighters to access the seat of the fire, leave openings around the property. Through these openings, weather elements can damage the interior of the house. Our SERVPRO technicians can prevent such problems by immediately boarding-up the property after the loss. We prefer more secure options such as bolt with tension board up instead of just covering openings with plywood under extreme weather or damage.

Restoring power
Unless it is a catastrophic fire incident, there is a need to run utilities such as heating in the house. Unfortunately, since fire is likely to damage cable insulations leaving bare wires, restoring power takes more than just flicking a switch. Our SERVPRO technicians can inspect wires for physical damage. We also use circuit checkers to verify normal current flow before reconnecting appliances. Safety always comes first.

Protecting surfaces
Apart from severe damages, minor issues can develop in the aftermath of a fire incident. Residues such as soot can stain some surfaces deeply, causing permanent damage. Stone surfaces such as granite countertops and metal finishes like chrome are susceptible to this type of damage. Our SERVPRO technicians prevent on-going damage by pre-cleaning surfaces and applying a thin film of lubricant. Such steps also help reduce the work needed to restore the property, thus improving the turnaround time.

A fire loss can cause many inconveniences. Call SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson at (520) 760-9352 to help take steps that deal with the damage, "Like it never even happened."

Cleaning Techniques for Fire Damaged Surfaces in Tucson Homes

Cleaning is a vital element to the recovery of your Tucson home after a fire. As challenging as existing in the residence can feel after even mild structure fires have occurred, effective cleaning and restoration practices can make you homeowners more comfortable. Our SERVPRO professionals have practical techniques and potent products to return damaged surfaces in your home to their preloss condition.

Depending on the severity of threats like smoke and soot residues, various cleaning practices are necessary to restore fire damage in Tucson homes. Abrasive techniques like media blasting can remove set-in soot from surfaces like countertops, and also help to reduce present odors, but agitative cleaning techniques are better suited to the needs of other surfaces and contents throughout the damaged residence.

The choice made in the type of cleaning practice our SERVPRO team uses depends on the thickness of soot residue on the surface. Because this film is acidic, sensitive materials can quickly become marred and stained under direct exposure to soot particles. Addressing these concerns begins with loosening the layer of soot and smoke sediment using agitative cleaning practices.

Preconditioning or pre-cleaning are the terms used for loosening and removing the majority of residues and oils from a designated surface or material. Dry cleaning processes like vacuuming, brushing, and the use of compressed air can have an effective result in removing most of the damaging layer of acidic soot. Abrasive cleaning techniques, including soda blasting, can have a more direct approach on lingering grit, carbon, and smoke particles. Given the specific surface in question and how severe the layer of soot particles is, various techniques might get employed to regain control of a fire-damaged property.

Cleaning is a necessary component to making fire losses “Like it never even happened.” Despite how devastating these disasters can be, our SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson team has the training and the cleaning agents to help. Between our agitative cleaning techniques to break residues loose from surfaces to foam, wiping, and abrasive methods, we can restore the look and feel of many damaged materials after a fire. Give us a call anytime at (520) 760-9352.

Emergency Mitigation Is Essential To Restoring Your Tucson Home After A Fire

8/3/2019 (Permalink)

You can contact SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson 24 hours a day at (520) 760-9352.

The Essential Role Of Emergency Mitigation Services For Fire Damage In Your Tucson Home

There is a distinguishable difference between emergency services and restoration services. In medium-scale fire-related incidents, emergency services can be provided in the immediate aftermath of the event to minimize disruption to the homeowner, reduce the claim expense, and reduce potential damages to property. Some of these can be as simple as a homeowner placing old linen or colorfast towel onto carpets to prevent cooling soot from falling directly onto it and causing further losses.

A property requiring emergency services for fire damage in Tucson may show signs of structural weakness or need a major reconstruction effort to get back to its preloss condition. During this period, a restorer needs to perform several duties to ensure the safety of anyone entering the property as well as to reduce the potential claims expense by performing small, but vital, mitigation tasks.

Among these vital mitigation procedures, is the securing of the immediate structure. SERVPRO can conduct a thorough safety inspection then board up areas of the home that may have become exposed to avoid intrusions into the home overnight. Water used in firefighting procedure must be urgently dried to prevent soots from settling or microbial growth issues. We may need to deodorize the affected area and restore power to the property.

Initial cleaning may be beneficial to structural contents like carpets as well as salvageable possessions. Some smoke residues may be acidic, which can cause permanent damages to surfaces throughout prolonged exposure. Cleaning methods SERVPRO can employ may include pre-cleaning carpets or clearing away soots from areas that are most heavily affected during this procedure we can also dispose of charred materials that may cause you distress.

Emergency restoration procedures involve stopping further damages as well as preparing the structure for the remodeling, repair, or reconstruction tasks required to get it back to a preloss condition. You can contact SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson 24 hours a day at (520) 760-9352.

What's Cooking in Your Tucson Kitchen ... Fire Damage?

5/22/2019 (Permalink)

Fires frequently start in kitchens.

Fire Damage Restoration for Your Tucson Home

The most common kinds of fires in Tucson homes, kitchen fires are usually triggered by cooking. Your oven and stove are two substantial potential sources of fire since they generate heat with electricity or gas. Fires originating in your oven can happen in various ways relating to cooking, the condition of the appliance, and cleanliness.

If you're dealing with fire damage in your Tucson home because you've left something to bake without monitoring it regularly, you are not alone. Many fires occur when someone turns an appliance on and then leaves the room for an extended period. A common mistake, but when it has happened to you, the help of a professional restoration company such as SERVPRO is needed to restore your home. With our expertise and experience, we can have your home looking as if nothing happened in no time.

Often, oven fires occur from a buildup of grease and other byproducts from cooking if you don't clean your oven regularly. Even dust can spark a blaze if it's thick enough. Keep your oven clean, specifically if something spills or food boils over inside of it, and make sure only to use the appropriate cleaning products.

Kitchen fires require SERVPRO technicians to clean oily soils. We can remove them in different ways. Some are light enough to be emulsified in water-based detergents. Water-based detergents can dissolve in water, and they also can attach to oil-based soils. The detergents pull the oil-based soils away from the surface so we can extract the soils with the detergent.

Other oil-based spills can be too heavy for this and need dissolving with oil-based solvents. These solvents can be used in situations where water could damage materials or in removing soils which are not water-soluble.

Your oven can malfunction and spark a fire, especially if it is aging or not maintained properly. The heating elements in electric ovens can spark a blaze, while gas ovens can develop leaks which can lead to explosions.

When an oven fire has broken out in your kitchen in your home in Redington, Ventana Canyon, or Bonita Ridge, SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson is standing by to help. Give us a call right away at (520) 760-9352 so we can get everything cleaned up for you.

We Have The Latest Technology And Advances In Tuscon Fire Damage Restoration

5/1/2019 (Permalink)

This fire started in the attic and caused damage to several rooms, we arrived quickly and restored the home back to new.

Removing Soot and Greasy Residues from Fire-Damaged Items in Tucson

When you experience a kitchen fire, getting it put out quickly comes as a great relief. Cleaning things up afterward can get quite messy, in any case. Homeowners in Tucson often discover that the residue from a grease fire is not only greasy but sticky, too. Cleaning up after a non-protein-based fire comes with many challenges, and one that started on the stove-top creates more difficult ones.

SERVPRO's specialists are up for the challenges of helping residents in Tucson restore their homes and belongings after fire damage occurs. One of these involves ridding different items of a layer of sticky residue that permeates into the tiniest grooves and indentations. Designed to provide a grip when wet, these same surfaces can seem impossible to clean thoroughly.

We can easily clean items with smooth surfaces that do not provide anything for soot to grab onto, but when textured surfaces make using brushes and cloths unproductive, we inventory and then box these items up and take them to our facility.

We use ultrasonic baths to remove soot from surfaces, including any hidden areas that might reduce the life of an item, and make it clean and safe to use again after fire damage. Other substances that might have settled on your belongings between the fire and the time we arrive, such as microbes, also get stripped away by the cavitation process. The microscopic bubbles produced by the ultrasonic mechanism in the bath burst open and push soot and other grime away from the items in the water.

SERVPRO specialists are dedicated individuals, trained in the most effective ways of helping you make things “Like it never even happened.” We know that a fire, no matter its size, can cause enormous amounts of stress and affect other areas of your home and life. Smoke travels far and wide within a home and settles everywhere it goes. Getting your belongings clean again makes things less stressful, less costly, and more like home for you and your family.

Call SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson at (520) 760-9352 when you need your home and possessions restored, cleaned, and back to normal. We can help residents in Ventana Canyon, Bonita Ridge, and Mt Lemmon with the latest in ultrasonic and other technologies that eliminate the effects of smoke, soot, and the fire that causes them.

We Will Restore Your Tuscon Home To Pre-Loss Condition

4/10/2019 (Permalink)

We have the necessary equipment, expertise and experience to restore your home. We are available 24/7 so call us right away.

Inspecting and Cleaning your HVAC system after Fire Damage in Tucson

A moderate property fire can often cause the air ducts of your HVAC system to become damaged or contain heavy soiling. Unfortunately, since the purpose of these systems is to distribute air, soot can quickly travel throughout a duct and be redistributed around the property after service is finished. For that reason, it is vital to have ducts checked by a registered professional when remediating after a property fire.

One part of our service is to restore a property to preloss conditions after fire damage in Tucson. Assessment of your HVAC system is always necessary especially when the affected area is close to the return side. A ventilation shaft returning air sucks smoke and soot into it circulating it throughout the system. This can cause permanent damage while also creating an unpleasant odor throughout the home.

Even when an HVAC system is a shut-off at the source, high pressure can force smoke into the system. A SERVPRO technician can check system components for damage during service. Damages can be sustained to dampers, turning vanes, mixing boxes and coiling cool. Often entering an HVAC system requires professional expertise, but an in-depth visual inspection tells us all we need to know about the need for potential repair work.

Our technicians cannot repair HVAC systems on site, which means if there are signs of permanent harm we may need to arrange for a third-party contractor. Where fire damage is cosmetic we can clean sheet metal although, most insulation material or flex duct may have to be removed, disposed of and then replaced.

Soiling and soot deposits in your ventilation systems can spread unpleasant odors throughout the property. SERVPRO can use thermal fogging equipment to send chemical pairing agents throughout ventilation ducts. These agents bond with odor particles, neutralizing them. Neutralization is more effective than merely masking an odor which can return once the deodorant wears off.

High-pressure fires can cause damage to your HVAC system. Contact SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson at (520) 760-9352 for an expert assessment.

Tuscon Fire Damage Restoration You Can Count On

3/6/2019 (Permalink)

Our technicians are available 24/7 and have the right equipment to handle deodorization in your home after a fire. Call us today.

Deodorizing your Attic after Fire Damage in your Tucson Home

Hot air rises faster than cool air. In a fire, smoke residues created by burning materials can rapidly travel through the home moving upwards into clean air pockets. This can lead to long-term issues in the home, mainly where odors are concerned. Finding the source of an odor can be challenging but, we often find that if a stubborn odor has remained long after standard deodorization procedure, the source could be from your attic.

Attics are typically confined spaces which can make restoration after fire damage in Tucson properties a difficulty. SERVPRO can assist by removing any charred remains from home and applying water-based deodorizers to mask unpleasant smells. Unfortunately, this process is not always enough where attic spaces are concerned, and we may need to access your loft space to assess rafters and insulation.

The problem stems from air pressure created by fires. High air-pressure can cause porous materials like insulation to absorb smoke damage. SERVPRO always work on the principle of restoring over replacing; however, in high-pressure fires insulation may not be salvageable. In circumstances like these, your technician must remove the affected insulation and dispose of it safely. We can replace these materials as part of the service.

The second structural component that may be the cause of an unpleasant smoke odor is your attic rafters. Where there are only light smoke deposits, we can use dry brushing techniques finished with a deodorant coating. If the rafters show signs of substantial damages, SERVPRO can deploy sandblasting equipment that can remove charred elements along with the odor-causing component and refinish afterward.

Deodorization is as important an aspect of fire damage as removing the visible signs. Often thick odors can leave an unpleasant reminder of the event as well as affecting your indoor air-quality. We can mobilize technicians with IICRC qualifications in odor control to help deal with this issue on your behalf.

For assistance with odors after property damage contact SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson at (520) 760-9352.

Handling the Big Odors After Small-Scale Fire Damage in Tucson

The fire caused by the toaster having an unnoticed frayed wire was small and put out quickly, but the soot, smoke, and odor it left behind after the fact remained. SERVPRO is available 24/7 to come out and handle the cleanup from your kitchen disaster.

Cleaning up fire damage in your Tuscon home can be a three-fold project. First, your SERVPRO technician ascertains if there is water damage as well and address that issue immediately. Any damp walls left are dried using the most expedient methods, often air movers do the trick, rapidly drying the surfaces and inhibiting any secondary damage from extended wetness or mold in drywall, counters or cabinets.

Next, the physical evidence of the fire needs addressing. The technician is trained to determine if the scale of the damage and the specific type of cleaning that the situation requires. For a small scale fire extinguished quickly, the cleanup usually involves removing soot and residue from the local area with specialized dry sponges and cleaning products that specifically target soot and smoke residue. We also inspect items on countertops and cabinets to see if they have sustained damage or need cleaning.

The final step we take is to remove any lingering odor left by the fire. Your SERVPRO technician inspects the room where the fire occurred and also any adjacent rooms to determine how widespread the odor has traveled. One of the most precise ways to treat smoke odors utilizes thermal fogging. This method recreates both the heat and pressure expelled during a fire and effectively penetrates porous surfaces with a deodorizing agent. Another method used for odor control may be the use of gels or pellets, depending on the level of odor removal that your situation requires.

The technicians work as quickly as possible to restore your home to its preloss condition. Even small fires can leave significant odors in a home; it's a good idea to get professional-level help turning back the clock on the condition of your room.

SERVPRO Can Wipe Down and Clean the Soot & Smoke After a Fire Damaging Event in a Tucson Home

On-Site Fire Recovery of Possessions and Structures in Tucson Is a Cornerstone of SERVPRO Services

Fire damage events usually bring along a feeling of helplessness and confusion, and sometimes you might not know the right actions to take to mitigate the incident. All does not end when the fire has been put off by the fire department, and the smoke has cleared. Even the fire extinguishing agents pose some additional risk to your property, and you may need professional skills, knowledge, and resources to return your items to their preloss state. We are going to present to you some of the options that Tucson residents have when such disasters occur.

When attending to fire damage incidents in Tucson, our SERVPRO technicians look at the type of damage and the materials to clean and choose the most suitable cleaning technique. For instance, we may use surface cleaning techniques when we do not want to saturate your contents with the cleaning product. Foam cleaning and spray and wipe are examples of surface cleaning techniques. Under the spray and wipe technique, we slightly spray the cleaning product onto a surface and then use a dry cleaning towel to wipe. Often, numerous passes are needed to reach a satisfactory result. Soot and smoke stains can be very stubborn to remove.
Our SERVPRO team uses foam cleaning in cases where the application of excessive moisture is likely to cause additional damage to your contents. We first generate the foam from the cleaning product and then use a natural sponge to do the cleaning. The use of a pump-up sprayer can help us to generate the foam.
When there is a need to apply large quantities of the cleaning agent to the surface to allow enough time for dissolving action, then we use saturation techniques such as hand washing and rinsing. The use of an upholstery cleaning machine also falls under this category. These techniques are useful when we are cleaning fabrics with heavy soils, and more agitation is necessary.
SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson has a proven record in storm, mold, fire, and water damage restoration. Call us at (520) 760-9352, and we can make your property “Like it never even happened.”

Shower Remodel

Mud Set Shower Pan Installation

I believe all SERVPROs around the nation are unique in the services they provide. Did you know that SERVPRO of Northeast Tucson also remodels? We remodel kitchens and baths as well as rebuild homes that were previously damaged from fires, floods, and smoke damage. This is a recent shower remodel we are currently in the tiling phase of the project. There was an odd size tub that the homeowner was using solely as a shower. We added a corner bench built out of cinder block and installed a curb made out of bricks.  The floor is called a Mud Set Pan which basically mean that it is all built out of concrete sloping toward the drain. Stay tuned as the completed project wraps up in two weeks.
